snapshots from lately

Earlier this week we had a little break from the hot weather. It has been so nice!
Last night the weather was perfect for taking a little walk around the pond.
Also, we have gotten some rain, which we really needed!!! Thank you Jesus! :)

Lately, I am loving this Canadian tv show called Heartland... It is about a family that runs a horse ranch in Canada. I think I am living vicariously through this show... ha!! The library had season 2 on DVD, so lately this is what I have been watching!! The show is actually going into it's 6th season in Canada (the US is a few seasons behind) so I have a lot more to watch... Yay!! Has anyone else seen this show?

This homemade berry pie (with berries from the garden) is long gone now... but it turned out amazing!
And currently I have been reading through Proverbs!

Snapshots are from my Intsagram...

PS. I decided to change my blog format... I wanted it to be more simple & clean! And because so much of my content is photos I wanted the layout to be better for that too. All of my "sidebar items" (archives, categories, followers, etc.) are now at the very bottom of my blog. I am liking the look & feel of it so far... I hope you do too! :)

snapshots from lately

Over the weekend, I went to a Beth Moore conference with several ladies in my church! It was my first time ever seeing her live & it was amazing! She shared a wonderful message about finishing what we start & seeing things through to the finish, so that we can be used by God in amazing ways. God has a wonderful plan for all of us, even when it's hard to see, we just have to persevere. It was a powerful message, especially because the conference was in Colorado Springs, where many people were deeply affected by the horrible wildfire. One of her points that I loved was that God will bring beauty from ashes. With God, there is always hope! I know that evacuees were able to attend this event for free, so I hope that the ones who went felt that hope that only comes from God. I am so thankful & blessed by Beth Moore's ministry & her genuine love for teaching God's Word! (Here is a little recap on her blog.)

On Sunday morning, we had to wake up very early to take my grandma to the airport...
The beautiful sunrise made it worth it! So pretty!
And then we had even more unexpected fun...
We stopped for doughnuts! Yumm...
And, as we were driving along, we saw a hot air balloon!! Yay!
Then, the day got even more crazy, because my grandma actually ended up missing her flight in Colorado Springs, so we had to drive her to Denver to catch her connection flight. We got there with very little time for her to catch her flight, but they actually gave me a "boarding pass" to go through security & help her get to her gate, so that was interesting... We made it with 20 minutes to spare. Now she is in Ohio spending time with her sister!! It was an unexpected adventure, but it all worked out. Praise Jesus! And since we were in Denver, we decided to make a stop at Ikea!!! :)

pray for colorado

These photos are a little glimpse into what has been going on in Colorado Springs, Colorado this week.
It has been so unreal to see this unfold on every local news channel, all day long. I live about an hour south of Colorado Springs, where the Waldo Canyon Fire is going on. I love Colorado Springs & I go there often... I will actually be going up there this weekend. It is a beautiful city at the base of Pikes Peak & there are many amazing places to visit... Seeing all of this happen has been so mind-blowing & heart breaking...
On Tuesday night the fire went out of control, because of very intense winds... My mom works in Colorado Springs & her company, which is close to Garden of the gods, was evacuated. Altogether 32,000 people have been evacuated. There are over 1,000 firefighters fighting the fires. And it has been said that hundreds of homes have been lost. Some of the people my mom works with have lost their homes... But, so far, there have been no reports of lives lost & that is amazing! Even through this devastation, people are coming together & I know that God is working!!!

These pictures were all taken yesterday or earlier (via Denver Post)... And the weather conditions today are better than they have been, so the fire is more controlled & the hopefully the firefighters will be able to contain it more. But it is still a very active fire & weather plays a big part it what it does. Please PRAY for Colorado Springs & for all of the victims, firefighters, etc... Also, PRAY for all of Colorado, because there are several fires across the whole state. We need rain so badly.

Here are a couple of ariel photos of destroyed homes... So terribly sad...

snapshots from my weekend

Every summer, we have a tradition to see the latest Pixar movie at the drive-in. I love it!
There is something so fun about watching movies outside!
So, we packed the folding chairs & our favorite goodies & went to see Brave...
It isn't my new favorite Pixar movie, but it was cute!
The air has been hazy from the fires that are burning across Colorado right now... This morning, when I woke up I could smell the smoke in the air. Please pray for those who are close to the fires & have had to
be evacuated.
Also, for the firefighters. The wind & extreme heat do not help at all. WE NEED RAIN!!!!
On Saturday, my family went to one of our favorite restaurants for dinner!!
They have the cutest windows!
Also, they have really good food & cute country decor inside!
On Sunday afternoon, my sister & I put our sun hats on & had a little pool party!! We bought the baby pool partly for when this girl comes over & partly for us, when it's 105 degrees outside... Ha! It looks like the temps will be 100+ everyday this week, so resting our feet in the pool will be amazing!
This sunflower is growing in my yard & it's almost as tall as me, even though we have hardly had any rain... Crazy! But it's so pretty with the sunset behind it! :)
