travel | estes park, colorado

Last week, my mom, sister and I went on vacation!!! We wanted to keep our vacation close to home, so we decided to go to Estes Park and Denver (2-3 hours away). I love Colorado, so being a tourist in my own state is always okay with me.
Also, staying closer to home meant spending less time traveling, so we were able to use most of our time doing fun things!

Our plan was to start off in Estes Park for a few days, then Denver for a few days... but we spent the first night in Denver, because an opportunity came up to see a play of one of my favorite musicals, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers!
It happened to be playing in the area and my mom knew someone that was in it, so we couldn't miss out. It really was a dream come true to see this play! The actors did such an amazing job with the amount of singing and dancing involved. Growing up watching the movie, I wondered if they would be able to pull off the cast and some of the scenes as well as in the movie... but they did an amazing job, especially with the "barn raising dance"! (If you have never seen the movie, it is a must see!!)

After the play, we spent the night in Denver and the next day we left for Estes Park! First, we checked into our very small and rustic cabin. My sister and I had to sleep on bunk beds and honestly I can not say I enjoyed sleeping on the bottom bunk very much... haha! But it was only for a couple of nights and we had a little porch swing and our own fire pit!

Since our first day in Estes was not a full day we decided to stay close to the cabin. Thankfully Lake Estes is right next to the KOA we were staying at! Even though there was a lot of traffic and people around, it was still really nice to walk by the water and take some photos.

Also, really close by, was one on of the nicest mini-golf courses that I have ever seen, so we decided to do that before dinner! There were trees, flowers and waterfall features ever where, which made it really fun!

The golf course had some pretty Columbines (the Colorado State Flower), so that was a fun photo-op!

After mini-golf, we went back to our cabin to have dinner & s'mores from the fire pit and watch the sun set over the Rocky Mountains. Vacation was off to a great start!

Coming Next... Hiking in Rocky Mountian National Park!!

photography | pretty house + more

During our Memorial Day adventures we came upon this beautiful house that is rented out for events. There were no people around, so we explored just a little bit. There was a picnic table right next to the house under some trees, so we stopped there for a rest. This was such a beautiful area!

I took these next two photos peeking through the windows of the house... :)

We also came across this cute little white chapel. There were so many special things in this area!

And when we saw this open grassy area we knew we had to take some fun running/jumping photos.
While we were there we met a little squirrel friend. He was pretty cute.

And here is a GIF I made, just because it is fun! It sums up how great our day was!!

fashion | summer dresses & warby parker sunglasses

 *   *   *
Warby Parker asked me to help them announce this new collection that is officially available on their website today!!
I was happy to do this, because I really love the look of each of these sunglasses. They are simple and effortless, but they also have an elegant look. So, they could easily be added to many different looks, dressy or casual. One of the things I love the most about this collection is that each style comes in silver and gold, and with different lens colors. The Julia glasses are my favorite of the three, because that style/shape has been my go-to for the past couple of year. Also, I love that the Julia glasses come in gold frames with copper lens. I feel that the lens shape and golden color is best for my face shape and skin tone.

These sunglasses inspired me to make a few fashion boards, matching them with pretty summer dresses!
So, I looked around ModCloth to pick out what I thought would compliment each pair of sunglasses best.
Each look I made is one that I would love to wear! The first look is my favorite! I think the gold in the glasses
goes so perfectly with peach and yellow for summer. And how pretty is that dress?!?!

photography | colorado hiking

On Memorial Day, my family and I went hiking around the "Garden of the gods" in Colorado Springs, CO. This is always a favorite place to go, because it is beautiful and only an hour from where I live. I love playing tourist in my home state! "Garden of the gods" is such a unique park, because of the many different rock formations and because it is a free park! The man who owned the property agreed to give it to the city in the early 1900s as long as it would be a free public park. I think that is such a wonderful and rare thing these days. If you are ever in the area this is something to check out.
Beautiful Pikes Peak, with a little bit of snow... the view just doesn't get better than this, if you ask me!
This was such a prefect day!! After a long winter, I needed a day of being out in nature and sunshine!
Now I am so excited for summer time adventures with my favorite people!

memorial day weekend, part one

It may not be official, but I feel like summer has arrived!!
I am wearing shorts and sitting outside, as I type this. Flowers are everywhere. I watch baseball almost everyday. Summer plans are being made. Yay Vacation!!! And, this morning I hung my sheets on the clothes line to dry in the fresh air and sunshine... There are so many things to love about summer time!
I had a full and lovely Memorial Day weekend. Lots of  sweet memories were made! On Sunday afternoon, I went to a wedding shower for a friend of mine. It was a perfect backyard bridal shower celebrating a beautiful bride-to-be.
I am really happy for her and so excited for her wedding in September!
So, here are a few photos from my friend's shower (part one of my holiday weekend)...
For the shower, I used some of my vintage doilies & hankies to decorate the tables. It is simple, but I thought it gave the tables a little something special, in addition to the flowers.
And there was a candy bar (!!!!!) which the maid-of-honor put together! I loved how she decorated it with lights and bandannas. It was such a fun and cute wedding shower! :)
