inspiration | magnolia homes

Chip and Joanna Gaines' HGTV show, Fixer Upper, is currently my favorite. They are amazing!
I loved seeing the houses they renovated for the first season and I am so excited for the second
season to begin tonight!! They completely transform houses that are old, outdated or falling apart
to become fresh and beautiful again. That is so inspiring to me. Also, Joanna's design style is my
favorite. She uses fresh colors (often white) and a lot of unique and rustic details.

Some of these photos are of their own restored farmhouse and some are from houses that were
featured in the first season of Fixer Upper.

Visit their WEBSITE to see more from the first season of Fixer Upper and much more...
They even have a SHOP where they sell some of the items seen in their houses.

inspired | knit & plaid

This season, I am loving the look of combining a cute plaid button-up shirt with a cozy knit sweater.
I have gotten inspiration from all of these shots, via  my  pinterest (all the links can be found there).

This is a super cute way to layer for the cold months. I love how it can be casual or dressed-up. Plus, there are so many ways to combine knits with plaids... the color options/combinations are limitless. Plaid looks cute with a classic cardigan, a chunky sweater or a pull-over sweater. And I love that the plaid shirt can be tucked in or left out. I know this is a "trendy look" that I will really feel like myself wearing... so, I think this is going to be a go-to style for me this winter! There are so many things to love about it!!  :)

Tiny Prints inspiration boards...

A couple of weeks ago, I received an email from Tiny Prints about some of their collections. I thought it
would be fun to use some of my own photos to make inspiration boards that were inspired by their beautiful
products. Tiny Prints is a part of Shutterfly and they have a wide variety of premium cards, stationery, etc.
for everything from house warming party invitations to new baby announcements. Their options are
really cute, colorful & perfect for so many different occasions!

My first inspiration board is for a house warming party... I love the blue watercolored background &
the writing on this invitation. I definitely feel like it reflects my own personal style, so it was easy to
make an inspiration board with my own prints.

And here are the links for the rest of the pictures in my inspiration board...

Then, I made an inspiration board for a new baby girl's birth announcement! I love the hearts
& the shades of corals & pinks, so all of that was a big part of my inspiration. Plus, the Knit Bow
Headbands in my shop are one of my favorite things to make & the coral color seems to be the
most popular, so I was excited to be able to include them in this collection!

inspired by: oana befort

Fawn and Flora ~ work in progress from Oana Befort on Vimeo.

I watched this amazing video by Oana Befort this morning & instantly felt inspired!! So, I had to share it.
Seeing the process of her beautiful deer & flower watercolor appear right before your eyes is pretty magical! I love to watch the lines go on to the page so smoothly & to see the colors fill in the illustration. The way she does this makes it look so easy... even though I know it's not!! I love all of her work! She is a very talented artist!

inspiration: easter eggs

I love Easter! I love the meaning most of all, but I also love the springy colors & of course, dying Easter eggs!
So, I thought I would share a few favorite Easter egg ideas that have inspired me this year!
There are so many ideas out there from Martha Stewart to Pinterest, but here are my three favorites...
I think my top favorite idea is naturally dyed Easter eggs! I think these colors are much prettier than what comes in the old dying kits & I am very curious about trying this out! {Click here to see more...}

I also love the way these farm fresh brown eggs look with just the white paint pen designs.
You could really get creative, but still keep the eggs simple & pretty. {Click here to see more...}

And my last favorite pick... hand-painted floral patterns are so perfect on Easter eggs.
I love these bright, happy colors and nothing is more spring-y than flowers!!

And because it is spring & the flowers are starting to bloom... I thought I would share a link to an article that I recently read about flowers & the perfect love that they truly represent...
It was really worth the read for me, so maybe it would be for you too!

inspired by: A-frame shelves for plants

I absolutely loved this beautiful ladder shelf design the first time I saw it, on A Beautiful Mess!
I was so inspired by the A-frame design and the pretty yellow paint color. I especially love how it is
used to display the cute little house plants. So, it got me looking around for other A-frame shelf designs
& I found a lot of great inspiration. I always love to see variety of different plants all grouped together
& this is a great way to do it! So, sometime in the future I would love to have a bright sun room, with
something just like this. Plus, it would be really great to have just one place to go to water all of your plants,
since I don't really have much of a "green thumb".

Not sure of the original source for the 4th picture, if you know, please let me know...

inspired by: kitchen + recipe

This is my kind of kitchen!!
I love the white ceilings & of course, the sky light.
I love the contrast of the wood island against the white walls & the stone floors.
I love the open shelves for the beautiful dishes in whites, blues & greens.
I love how light just seems to flood the whole space!

And, because it is fun to daydream every once in awhile,
I could see myself in this kitchen, making something like this...

christmas gift wrapping

This year, I was inspired to use brown craft paper with red & white string for my Christmas gift wrapping!
I love that it is simple, yet really cute & festive! And it's also pretty affordable! I got a roll of brown craft
paper at the dollar store & I got the red & white string from the target dollar section. I added an extra
Christmas-y touch by using a white pen to draw stars on the brown paper & I printed my own gift tags
that I downloaded from oana befort! They are so cute & they were free! Yay!

Only 6 days until Christmas...

the art of making bread

I am a lover of bread! I love the smell while it's baking & of course, I love the taste.
Watching this video has definitely inspired me to bake my own bread more often.
I have made bread before & it has turned out good... but after reading a bit of Bread Matters,
I realized that it is truly an art & so much more goes into it than I thought.
Plus there are so many different kinds of bread that I would like to try to make!
I think one of my goals, going into the new year, will be to make homemade bread more often!

PS. Kinfolk has many more beautiful videos, found HERE.

inspired by: pretty sweaters

'Tis the season for warm, cozy, soft, pretty sweaters!!
I am so happy that I live in a place that has sweater-weather.
Wearing sweaters is the perfect balance of being comfy, yet still fashionable.
That is one of the main reasons I love this time of year!
I first saw the sweater above worn by Arielle (one of my favorite bloggers) & it inspired me...
I fell in love with it's beautiful fall colors & it's chunky knit pattern.
Being a knitter, I always truly appreciate the beauty of a knit sweater.
Maybe someday I will be able to hand-knit a sweater of my own!
Anyway, all of these sweaters are from Anthropologie & they are all so pretty...

I love the fashion, but even more I love this photoshoot... so pretty!
